Integrating metacognitive engineering to redefine performance
Metacognitive engineering is an emerging branch within cognitive architecture.
As the field evolves, it expands into the life sciences, framing cognition as a dynamic biological system capable of engineered acceleration.
Alfes operates to contribute to this shift by offering one of the first concrete, integrative methodologies for applying metacognitive principles to both human performance and ethical Human–AI system design.

Mission - Gemeinsam mit einem multidisziplinären Team, Alfes stellt durch das ViSP-Lab – einen interdisziplinären R&D Hub für Metacognitive Engineering vor– zum Fortschritt der Cognitive Architecture beizutragen.
Das Ziel dieser Architektur ist es, an der Spitze der Cognitive Biotechnology zu operieren, indem sie die Integration (architecting the integration) zwischen Neurocyberpsychologie und jenen Prinzipien gestaltet, die von der NATO und dem MIT als die nächste cutting-edge definiert werden, wobei der Fokus auf menschlicher Spitzenleistung liegt.
Das ViSP-Lab-Konzept entstand während ihres Postgraduierten-Programms an der Harvard University und erhielt die Befürwortung der Fakultät. Dessen zentrales Framework – das ethisches H-AI-Trust, und Cognitive-Bio-Design integriert – in ihrer akademischen Publikation von MIT CSAIL heraus.
Vorgesehen als eine europäische Applied Facility, fungiert das ViSP-Lab als „Die Brücke“ (The Bridge) – ein R&D Hub zwischen zentralen Organisationen. Es nutzt die Zusammenarbeit mit führenden brasilianischen Forschungszentren für ethische Pilotprogramme, die in der EU nach DSGVO-Standards replizierbar und skalierbar sind.

ViSP-Lab: R&D interdisciplinary hub for metacognitive engineering
Acting as “Die Brücke” (The Bridge) by integrating:
German precision, Brazilian scalability ecosystems, U.S technology-transfer, and Swiss strategic innovation.
The ViSP-Lab concept originated in Alfes´s post-graduate program at Harvard University
and received faculty endorsement. Its core theoretical framework—integrating ethical H-AI trust
and Cognitive Bio-Design —was crystallized in her 2024 academic paper at MIT CSAIL.
ViSP-Lab proposes to act as an inter-disciplinary R&D hub between central organizations - Ieveraging collaboration with Brazil's tier research centers for ethical and operational pilot programs, which are replicable, and scalable in the EU under GDPR standards.
